The Arashiyama Bamboo Grove (嵯峨野の竹林) is a path through thousands of towering bamboo stalks that create a natural cathedral — sunlight filters through the dense canopy, and the sound of bamboo rustling in the wind creates an otherworldly atmosphere. The main path runs 500 meters from the north gate of Tenryu-ji Temple to Okochi-Sanso Villa, passing through the heart of the grove.

The bamboo stalks grow up to 20 meters tall and are harvested sustainably for traditional crafts — tea whisks, baskets, and architectural materials. The grove is designated as a Place of Scenic Beauty by the Japanese government.
