Arriving at the paddy fields 45 minutes before sunrise and positioning near the flight corridor between the Kase River roost and the main paddy feeding areas gives the best overhead passages. **Crane identification:** Hooded Cranes (smaller, with gray hood and white patch) are considered rarer than the Common Cranes that dominate the flyovers — the mixed flocks are distinguished by size.
