Head directly to the live crab tanks where vendors sell whole matsuba crabs (¥4,000–10,000 depending on size and grade). The crabs are tagged with boat numbers and catch dates. If you point to a crab, the vendor will weigh it, quote a price, and if you agree, immediately steam it for you (¥500 extra, 20-minute wait). Eat it at the market's outdoor tables with provided crab crackers. **Sushi breakfast:** The market's sushi row (five small restaurants) opens at 8:30am. Order the 'omakase nigiri set' (おまかせ握りセット, ¥2,500–3,500) — the chef selects the day's best fish from the morning catch and prepares 10–12 pieces of nigiri.
