Strawberry Land Nasu (December–May season, heated greenhouses start earliest). **Timing the season:** January–February berries are small but intensely sweet (cold temperatures concentrate sugars). March–April offers the largest berries and peak flavor. May berries are still good but farms wind down as heat increases. Weekday mornings (9:00–11:00am) have the freshest berries; weekend afternoons (after 14:00) often have picked-over plants. **Picking strategy:** Enter the greenhouse and walk to the far end first — most visitors pick near the entrance, leaving the back rows fuller. Look for deep red berries (fully ripe); avoid white-tipped ones (underripe). Twist gently to detach from the stem. Use the provided condensed milk sparingly — it's traditional but can overwhelm the berry's natural flavor. **Varieties to compare:** If the farm offers multiple varieties, taste each pure (no milk) first.
