Mt. Bizan (眉山, 'Eyebrow Mountain,' 290m) rises behind central Tokushima City, named for its eyebrow-like ridge profile when viewed from the city. A ropeway ascends from the Awa Odori Kaikan building (5th floor) to the summit observation deck, providing 360-degree views of Tokushima City, the Yoshino River delta, and mountains stretching to Shikoku's interior. At night, the city lights create a romantic panorama.

The mountain's mild height makes it accessible to all fitness levels via ropeway, with walking trails available for those preferring to hike.

Night visits (particularly summer evenings around 20:00) show Tokushima's city lights reflecting in the river, with couples favoring the romantic atmosphere. The ropeway runs until 21:00, making post-dinner visits feasible. **Hiking alternative:** Walking trails ascend Bizan from various entry points around the city. The main trail from Zuiganji Temple (瑞巌寺) takes 40–50 minutes, passing through forest with occasional city glimpses. The trail is well-maintained but steep in sections — proper shoes required. Descend via ropeway if legs are tired (one-way ticket: ¥620). **Cherry blossoms:** Bizan's slopes hold 1,000+ cherry trees that bloom in early April, making the mountain a popular hanami (cherry blossom viewing) spot. The summit observation deck provides overview of pink-blanketed slopes. Peak bloom: April 1–10 (varies yearly). **Practical combination:** Visit Awa Odori Kaikan for a dance performance (40 min), then immediately take the ropeway from the same building — efficient use of time and money via combined ticket.
